Fake singles – part one

There are a couple of Ramones 45's that you sometimes see for sale as official releases although they are fakes. One single that I have seen listed in more than one discography over official Ramones releases is the peruvian Rock'n'Roll High School. It's a split 45 with Ham (Jam misspelled) on the other side. But if you listen to the record it's obvious that this is not a Ramones record.
The single usually goes for $200-400 on Ebay. That's ok if you are looking for a peruvian band covering the Ramones – but it's not a Ramones record. If anyone want a sound clip from the record just mail me.

  1. Hi
It's interesting record, sounds like Ramones backing track with someone else singing. I hear Joey's voice in the backing vocals or then it is just in my imagination. Don't have a copy, but heard Timo's copy. Cheers, Hannu from Finland

    1. Hi. I can't be sure – but to me it does not sound like the Ramones or Joey. It's hard to imagine that they would go to Peru and record a tune with another singer. But who knows? One other thing: The label is printed with "El estilo de RAMONES" (In the style of RAMONES). On the other side it is only "the HAM" instead of the Jam, no "El stilo de...". Instead the name is misspelled. To me it looks like a way to release a record that is "almost" Ramones and the Jam.
      Cheers!

  2. Yeah, you most likely are right. Haven't realized in the style of... part. If anyone out there knows any other release by the same label, there might be more cover versions of other bands?

    1. Yeah, maybe there are! The label, MAG, has been running since at least the 60's in Peru. For what I understand they have released a lot of psychedelic rock-stuff...
